The first revelation of Our'an began with the Devine message 'Read' Acquiring knowledge (Ilm) has been made obligatory for men and women alike. Hence Muslim Ummah responded positively to it. It devised, designed and implemented a distinct and dedicated system of education for maintaining, preserving and propagating Islamic Ideology.
According to Islamic Ideology imparting education to children is far better than giving gold in charity. Consequently numberless Madaris were established only for Muslim boys all over the sub-continent. The education of Our'an, Ahadith and Fiqh was imparted to them. These Madaris produced Alims, Fazils, Mohaddis and Oaries. But the education of higher studies of Islam and Ulume-Nabuwwat for Muslim girls was completely neglected. There was not even a single Madarsa solely for girls.
The saying:
"If you teach a boy, you teach a person and if you teach a girl, you teach a nation"
had drawn the attention of Muslim Ummah towards girls' education. As an out come of this realization several initiatives had been taken by responsible bodies as well as individuals to promote education in Muslim girls.
The Credit of being the pioneer in the field of adorning girls as Alimas and Fazilas goes to Jamea-tus-Salehat, Rampur. It has hit quite new genera in this field.
Year 1956 became a milestone in the long history of Muslims in the country. In this year Islamic Movement of India succeeded in finding a solution to the age old need of educating Muslim girls with Islamic orientation. After long deliberation, they decided to develop residential academic institution exclusively for girls to give them education with Islamic orientation.
